RPA Communications By Design are a full service design agency based near Saltaire in West Yorkshire. Their strapline is Intelligent Commercial Creative so when Anatomic were asked to design an advertising hoarding for them in August the results had to be good.
Two things initially struck us about this project, one was the size of the advert (over 2m in width and 1.5m in height) and the other was the fact that designing for a design agency meant that this had to be some of the slickest work Anatomic has produced to date.
In their branding RPA has been using a system of dots as a background texture seen most effectively on their recently redeveloped website (http://www.rpadesign.co.uk) which even incorporates the dots into some hand drawn typography. Our idea was to take this dot system and use it to create an effect whereby close up you couldn’t see part of the advert but as you gained distance the imagery became apparent. The advert was intended to be the opposite side of a hockey pitch to spectators so we knew that we had the luxury of quite a big viewing distance. After quite a bit of experimentation the concept came together and the result is a visually stunning and intriguing piece of design.
We were fortunate to be working for a client that was so willing to go with something completely new like this and the board is proudly displayed pitch side at Ben Rhydding Hockey Club for all to see.

After being in place for several weeks now this advert is still going strong despite hockey players doing their best to hit all the advertising boards with balls!!
